N-1Environment

Chips and coolant are now recovered

Chips from the lathes are sorted and pressed; coolant is filtered and reused.

Since May, chips from the lathes and machining centres are sorted by material and compacted in a briquetting press. The briquettes go to a licensed recycler; the coolant pressed out of the chips is filtered and returned to the machines.

What changed?

  • Chips are collected in three bins: steel, aluminium and cast iron.
  • Coolant concentration is measured every week.
  • Waste fluid is metered and recorded in the environmental management system.
